“Africa is the future.”  It’s a phrase increasingly echoed in the Global North, most recently by Bill Gates who urged others to make Africa a central focus of public policy and philanthropy. Yet when it comes to education philanthropy, especially support for African universities, the sector is far from ready for the tidal wave about to descend.
